Este artigo começa por apresentar as esperanças que a Igreja manifesta ao promulgar o Ano Sacerdotal, reconhecendo os esforços empreendidos em todo o mundo pelos ministros ordenados. Considera a necessidade da missão na sociedade de hoje, a urgência de uma nova evangelização e ressalta, para este efeito, a importância de um itinerário fundamentado no encontro pessoal com Cristo, a fim de se sustentar a missão do sacerdote. Por fim, recorda a solicitude de Bento XVI em relação aos presbíteros e fornece elementos que propiciem a renovação da vida sacerdotal. /// This article begins by presenting the hopes of the Church in promoting the Year of the Priest, recognizing the efforts undertaken the world over by ordained ministers. It considers the need of mission within today’s society, the urgency of a new evangelization and, stresses, to this effect, the importance of an itinerary founded on a personal encounter with Christ to sustain the mission of the priest. Finally, it recalls the concern of Benedict XVI for priests and furnishes elements that favour the renewal of priestly life.
